i purchased ultraelectromagneticpop expecting nothing... i was so busy digesting the whole grunge/alternative thing from MTV and Rock N' Rhythm mag, when i bought it. initial impression was, the quality of the album was 'raw'... that's putting it positively and in defense of a friend's criticism of local records. to me, it really was indeed subquality compared to Alan Silvestri record's of that time... but it nonetheless showcases the ecclectism and versatility the e'heads could offer... something they proved time and again after each record release... my romance with e'heads music lasted till Carbon Stereoxide - and to me, and i believe it is the case, the eraserheads' creativity never waned until the end. instead, it has mutated and matured, perhaps not always to the liking some critics. we only have to listen to the spinoff bands that each member formed later to see the point...
