rivermaya's story is an item in itself aside from the fact that they seconded the e'heads in both outputs and popularity during their days, and emerged to have more longevity. i bought their debut album unsure of whether they really are worth anything and despite hating their very first hit song Ulan. it was a mere symptom of my obsessive-compulsive shopping habits. fortunately, there were songs in that album that indeed caught my fancies and that 'catch' proved to be contageous enought for me to continue buying their records up to the Atomic Bomb lp. that doesn't mean that i cease to appreciate their music after... indeed, i think their more 'anthemic' songs came afterwards, though i would venture to say their creativity as a unit were better before that album. rico blanco, despite all that he is, is undiably one of the most prolific songwriter in pinoy rock... and it bouys rivermaya's status as a serious band despite their beginnings as a production rock outfit.
